The free online encyclopedia (Wikipedia) is always helpful when looking for short and basic information. Besides the brief explanation of what screencasting is, you will find a lot of useful links to various screencasting-related stuff.

This place is maintained by John Udell - the man who might have not invented the process of capturing screen images but has done really a lot to make screencasting popular.

This is a comprehensive list of many programs (the so called authorware) that can be used to create screencasts. Each of the programs is reviewed briefly and there are links to more comprehensive comparisons and descriptions of the listed programs. But please have in mind that there might be information that is not up-to-date.

The forum does not seem to be a very active one but still it is a place that is dedicated to screencasting only.
